Yoga Instructor / Prenatal Yoga
Over 18 years ago I took my first yoga class. It did not take long at all for me to make a commitment to the practice. Yoga has always made perfect sense to me in every way. It has helped me to know myself, love myself and understand myself at a very deep level. As a dancer and athlete in my youth I have always enjoyed movement. While the physical aspects of a dedicated yoga practice have always intrigued me it’s the philosophical and spiritual dimensions of the practice that continue to fascinate me even after all these years. No matter what is going on in my life, my practice has always served me well and supported me through life’s changes and transitions.
I began my teaching career in the public schools where I taught for 10 years. During this time I received an M.A. in Education from National Louis University and was fortunate enough to focus my thesis on the impact of yoga in the classroom. While so many aspects of my job as a public school teacher were unbelievably rewarding, I made the difficult choice to leave the profession so I could focus on my family and on my yoga. I am now the proud mother of three wonderful children. My yoga practice has been my constant to keep me balanced emotionally and uplifted spiritually so that I can be the best mom possible! Teaching yoga has given me the opportunity to go deeper into my own practice than I could have ever imagined and for that I am beyond grateful.
My yoga course work began at The Chicago Yoga Center studying under Suddha Weixler. Then I explored even further and ended up getting certified in several other areas of yoga expertise including; prenatal yoga, kids yoga, family yoga, astanga yoga, vinyasa flow and yin yoga. I have been teaching in the suburbs for about 11 years now. I am also a Reiki Master Teacher. This ancient Japanese practice of balancing energy has become an extraordinary tool to help me further my yoga practice and take my spiritual work to a much higher level.
Additionally, I am the author of a yoga book for children called, The Light Inside. It is a fictionally story (available on Amazon) that aims to help yogis of all ages understand some of the fundamentals of basic yoga philosophy. It is an honor and privilege to be able to share my knowledge and wisdom with others who choose the yogic path.
